Trump’s World-on-Fire Freedom Movement vs Texas GOP House Majority

The Trump landslide 2024 victory was and is a mandate level message, a rejection of the four-year long assault on America perpetuated by the Democrat Party and the radically leftist Biden-Harris regime.

GOP voters in 2024 demanded that the Republican Party step up and lead, put MAGA into action, and stop the lunacy of the Democrat Party’s agenda. GOP voters who put Republicans in charge in Washington and Austin want the GOP to take charge, to stop Democrat schemes on a wide range of issues like election fraud, border security, sanctuary cities, gender ideology and transition, climate alarmism, censorship, DEI, CRT and more.

America wants the Deep State, and its subversive agenda, dismantled and crushed.

The Trump administration hit the ground running, taking immediate, rapid, actions to implement the will of the people.  They are taking brave and bold steps to restore America.

Equally wonderful and amazing is that Trump’s Freedom Movement is resonating all over Europe including at the EU Parliament in Brussels, where the MEGA movement (Make Europe Great Again) is on fire, with patriots stepping up to oppose the freedom-crushing over-regulation of the EU and to support the reemergence of the sovereignty of the European countries. (See HERE and HERE.) They revere Trump and MAGA.

Things are quite different here in Texas.  There is a marked contrast in energy, passion, fervor, speed of action, etc., between what is happening in Washington and Brussels, as opposed to what is happening in Austin, in the 89th legislative session Texas House.

And it’s not just the slow pace of the Texas House that is the problem.

It is the repeating once again of the past Surrender Squad tactics by some elected Republicans who let Dems choose the House Speaker.

The GOP majority Texas House in this 89th legislative session has:

  • Perpetuated the nearly 20-year policy of letting Democrats choose the House Speaker, an enormous and unforced capitulation of power before the session even gets rolling, and a well-known and ongoing source of tension between GOP voters and elected Republicans.

  • Honored the commitment to ban Democrat committee chairs, but made that “accomplishment” meaningless by mandating that all committee Vice Chairs be Democrats, and then giving those Vice Chairs, via the House Rules, unprecedented power to “kill,” stall and block, the GOP majority and their legislative priorities. GOP opponents of these new rules, who were blocked from attempts to amend them, rightly dubbed them the Democrat Empowerment Act.

  • Put into key Vice Chair positions Democrats who oppose some of the most important bills and goals that Republicans are rallying around nationally.

To be clear, the majority of elected Republicans House members did the right thing, refused to go along with the “let the Democrats run the place” ongoing scheme, but that majority was outvoted by the Surrender Squad Rs who banded with the Dems to let them choose the Speaker.

This situation is especially frustrating because with a solid GOP majority in the Texas House and the Texas Senate, and a Republican in the Governor’s mansion, Republicans in Texas could enact a solid top-to-bottom Republican agenda that could help keep Texas red for decades. Think about that!!

WHY doesn’t the GOP majority in the House use the power the voters gave them, especially at this time in American history, in this session, when it really matters?

It really matters now because after the national shellacking inflicted on Democrats in 2024, Soros-funded Democrats are more focused than ever before on turning Texas blue, as the key to their ongoing quest for a leftist takedown of America.  Allowing the 2024 version of let-the-Democrats-choose-the-Speaker, and let-Democrats-control-the-Texas-House, plays right into Soros’ hands.

One particularly pernicious example of the Republican’s capitulation to Democrats in the Texas House relates to election integrity, the most important issue facing America in this writer’s opinion, and one of the Texas Legislative Priorities.

Given the importance of this issue to the future of free and fair elections, why did the House Speaker appoint as Vice Chair of the Elections Committee a Democrat who had already introduced a series of bills that are absolutely opposite to the Republican’s election integrity mission? Knowing that this Vice Chair would have the power to stop good election integrity bills and push bad ones?

This Elections Comm Vice Chair is the author of  numerous bills that directly counter the Republican’s vitally important election integrity mission, including bills  to permit voter registration online, irresponsibly expand acceptable forms of voter ID, repeal criminal offenses related to soliciting and distributing an application to vote by mail, allow voter registration on the day of election, and bills pushing for voting by email, all viewed by election security experts to be contrary to the mission of honest elections.

Recently on my America, Can We Talk? show, I interviewed Texas State Representative Brian Harrison (R, HD 10) about the state of affairs in the Texas House of Representatives that boasts an 88 to 62 GOP-majority. (Full interview HERE.)

I urge you to listen to the whole interview; here are some key quotes from Representative Harrison:

Under the Rules package adopted by the (majority Republican) Texas House for this session, “we are going to make Democrat co-chairs of every Committee in the Texas House. We’ll call them Vice Chairs, and then we will rewrite the House Rules, and give the Vice Chairs more power than the Chairman. So we have now gone backwards.”

“Texans voted Republicans in office as the majority. The “Republicans” have now handed the Texas House leadership to the Democrats. This might just be the greatest form of election fraud.”

“They are growing government in Austin at rates that would make D.C. Democrats blush!”

Add to that the newly released list of 96 Texas government agencies that, as reported on X by Rep Brian Harrison,  the Democrat selected “Republican” House Speaker gave Democrat Chairman control over. That means “Democrats are deciding how your tax dollars are being spent…”

The “Democrats control the Republican-majority Texas House” situation is so out of line that national news media outlets are reporting about it. Steve Bannon spoke about it at a barnburner of a speech at the recent Tarrant County GOP MAGA Gala, and he interviewed two GOP Texas State Reps, Shelley Luther and Mitch Little about it as well.

Great as it is that this situation is getting broad media attention, Texas GOP voters are in the same position they have been in during every recent legislative session, asking themselves what exactly can be done about it now? It’s too late to change the Speaker race outcome or the House Rules. Plans to primary the Surrender Squad Rs “next time” are always on the table. Pushing to enforce Texas GOP Rule 44 (censure and potential blocking of candidates from the GOP primary ballot) is something, but does not change anything now.

We have seen this movie before. Some good bills will pass, but many GOP priority bills will be pushed to the last, get stalled in Calendars or in some other procedural hijinks, leading up to failing to pass the bills the voters want because “we ran out of time.”

Republicans voted for and deserve a GOP majority state legislature that robustly represents them. Consistent pressure on the GOP during this term, in the form of calls, emails, visits to Austin, urging them to use their majority power, is vital. Republicans shouldn’t have to do this, but it is vital. So, make these calls, write these emails, to send the messages:

  • Pass all of the Texas Legislative Priorities.
  • Reject ALL bills that are inconsistent with those GOP priorities.
  • Fight to prevent a repeat performance of the tactic of considering Democrat sponsored bills first, pushing GOP priority bills to the last, so you don’t run out of time” again.
  • Fight like you know what will happen to America if Texas turns blue.

I want to believe that the Texas House Republicans are getting ready to push the freedom agenda in Texas with the same passion and determination that Elon is bringing to the DOGE undertaking, and that Trump is bringing to America.  I want to believe the Texas House will rise to this occasion and to these times, and stand up and truly represent the Texas voters who put them there.

I want to believe them.

Texans are watching.
